The symptoms of mesothelioma is different depend on where the cancer developed the first time. In early stage, mesothelioma does not have many symptoms. The symptoms commonly develop after the cancer grow and press the nerve or press other organ in adjacent. The symptoms are commonly related to the organ, which the mesothelium covered. Pleural mesothelioma is the most common type (about 75%), so we can start with symptoms of pleural mesothelioma. The symptoms are including tiredness, sweating, high body temperature, a persistent cough, chest pain, shortness of breath, loss of appetite, unexplainable lose weight, difficulty to swallow, husky voice, and finger clubbing (change of finger’s and nail’s shape).

Similar with pleural mesothelioma, peritoneal mesothelioma does not have many symptoms in early stage as well. After the cancer grow, some of symptoms of mesothelioma occurs in the abdomen are including pain in the abdomen, feeling sick fatigue), poor appetite, unexplainable lose weight, diarrhea, constipation, and swelling in the abdomen. Some patient may only develop one symptom while the other may develop more than two symptoms. The frequency of the symptoms is also different for different individual. Body condition, age, overall health, and lifestyle may influence the symptoms. Unhealthy lifestyle such as bad eating habit may make the symptoms worst.

Symptoms of both pleura and peritoneal mesothelioma are not specific. Other illnesses may cause similar symptoms. That is the reason why many patients does not aware that they having mesothelioma until the late stage. If you experience some of the symptoms mentioned above, it is better if you immediately see doctor. Especially if you have history of asbestos exposure, you need to consult with doctor if you experience one or more symptoms. Remember that having the symptoms does not mean you are 100% mesothelioma. It could be caused by other medical condition and sometime it is not so dangerous. However, watchful with symptoms of mesothelioma is vital in order to keep your body condition is at best possible.
